Project Overview
Objective: Build a highly optimized, fast-loading, and secure informational portal targeting regional government scheme queries in West Bengal. The goal was to establish topical authority rapidly and capture massive search volumes on trending short-term keywords.
The challenge: outrank established news outlets and existing government portals that had years of authority, starting from zero — with under one month of runway before the keyword trend peaked.
Architecture: Astro & Decap CMS
Traditional CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress) introduce unnecessary JavaScript payloads, plugin vulnerabilities, and slow Time-to-First-Byte. I chose a modern Jamstack approach:
- Built with Astro — generates completely static HTML. No client-side JS payload. Uncrackable security, near-instant load, trivially cacheable at the edge.
- Decap CMS integration — allows rapid content publishing on local environments while keeping the live site purely static.
- Deployed to Cloudflare Pages — global CDN with zero cold-start latency and automatic HTTPS, contributing directly to the Core Web Vitals pass.
- Accessibility & UX — Screen reader support, font size toggles, dark/light mode, and a Bengali translation widget to capture local search intent precisely.
Keyword Research & Trend-Hijacking
The 5,000+ click single-day spike was not accidental. It was the result of a precise keyword discovery workflow executed at the right moment:
- Signal sources: Google Search Console (existing impressions), native Google Search autocomplete, Search Dorks (advanced operators), and Google Trends — all cross-referenced.
- Short-term trend targeting: Identified a regional spike in queries related to Annapurna Yojana camp schedules at the district level. Published hyper-relevant content (district-specific camp dates) in the 24-hour window before the trend peaked.
- Content velocity: Leveraged Decap CMS to publish 8+ targeted articles within 48 hours of identifying the trend — faster than any news outlet could respond editorially.
Technical SEO Implementation
